Chapel of the Name of the Holy Virgin Mary

Location, Object

Village of Intragna, municipality of Centovalli, Canton of Ticino; at the entrance to the Centovalli valley. Chapel of the Name of the Holy Virgin Mary (oratorio del Santissimo Nome di Maria), eastern annex to the 18th-c. church of St Gotthard (San Gottardo). Consecrated in 1474, partly dismantled in the 18th c.; interior with stucco decorations dating from 1642.

Context
Stuccoed arch between nave and chancel with three monochrome (camaieu) emblems with Latin mottoes, added during the renovations of the 1870s to replace the original paintings.
